Zach was born in Sheboygan Falls, WI in 1993. Growing up he enjoyed sports, including basketball and soccer, which he played all through high school. Realizing his athletic skills wouldn’t take him any further, he refocused his efforts on academics in college at Marquette University. Uncertain of what path to pursue, he ultimately chose to apply to dental school. However, following dental school, still not ready to grow up and get a real job, Zach chose to pursue more education. He applied to Oral and Maxillofacial surgery residency and was accepted into the program at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Finally, after spending too much time in academia, Zach realized he needed a good southern woman in his life.

Taylor was born in Mountain Brook, AL in 1995. Growing up she enjoyed riding horses. Following high school, she chose to attend Auburn University (Roll Tide). Like Zach, she was uncertain what she should do with her life. After majoring in business and exploring various careers, she ultimately realized that nursing was what she wanted to do. She got her masters in nursing and accepted a job as an operating room nurse at UAB in the oral and maxillofacial surgery department. As much as she enjoyed nursing, Taylor had an ulterior motive; to marry a doctor. These days she has picked up new hobbies including bread making, looking for hummingbirds and owls, and walking her two dogs.

During Zach’s 5th year of residency and Taylor’s second year as a nurse, they met while working together in the operating room at UAB. While being splattered by blood under the romantic operating room lights, Taylor and Zach grew closer. Encouraged by friend and fellow nurse Teresa, Taylor and Zach began dating. They would frequently go out to eat and cook, watch movies, do puzzles, go on hikes, attend sporting events, as well as many other activities. Just over one year later they became engaged. Zach will be completing residency in June 2025 and has accepted a job in Tennessee where he will work with Taylor by his side.
